The most bittersweet run I had.

So I owned FTL for roughly a year and in that time I unlocked four ships and two variants (engi cruiser and kestrel type B's.)

Out of all the ships I unlocked two of them tonight, the rock cruiser and kestrel type B.

The run was pretty standard save for the fact that for the first time in a year I made it to the final boss. However I'm getting ahead of myself.


The story I want to tell starts in sector six which happened to be the rock homeworld, I was running the kestrel with two burst lasers 1 and 2 bio beam and heavy laser. I had an ion bomb in reserve along with a hull breaching missile I had three levels of shields and long range scanners.

I found the rock heavy cruiser quest early on in the sector so I did it, the final part of the quest was in sector seven so I finished it. my second to last jump in sector seven was a store that happened to sell cloaking and the teleporter.

The problem was I only had enough scrape to buy one. So I bought the cloaking and ground two more jumps for a bit more scrap.

At this point I realized something if I sold my burst mark one and ion bomb I'd have enough to get the last system I needed to unlock the kestrel B.

Which I did.
I knew at this time that I had no chance of winning. But I went for it anyways because never give up.

My plan was for my rockman and mantis to board and try and take out the mother ship.

It didn't work I didn't have the firepower to pierce their shields and my boarders didn't have the DPS to kill crew where there was more than one.

I failed in beating the game but I got two ships. and you know what I'm proud of myself.
