New Events - A Poem

Postby Nemo Jr. » Tue Jul 27, 2021 12:10 am

maybe something about a mysterious unexplained ship
you can try to communicate or beam aboard
maybe somebody beams aboard that just bothers you
maybe your people disappear, maybe they're given a gift
maybe the ship just disappears
maybe something really rare and unusual
or maybe it just steals one of your people

maybe with scanner tech or other stuff you can wait out
see if you can make contact
or maybe nothing happens and it's just a weird thing
that leaves people like... well what was that about?

maybe something that requires approaching a star
to retrieve something or someone
malfunction in sensors, multiple enemy ships
they demand whatever and disappear or you fire
or call their bluff in some way

civilian ship held hostage
rebel wanting to defect
colonists needing supplies
two ships docked together mysteriously
no life signs

a crash landing on a large asteroid
debris detected on a small moon
undetectable presence on the ship
i mean not undetectable but unidentifiable
helps or hurts or nothing if you probe it
or try to communicate

colonists needing rescue
something about a mysterious unexplained ship
you can try
save someone who turns out to be a spy

giant alien spiders, gravitational phenomena
dark matter, star going supernova
maybe something really rare and unusual
or maybe it just steals one of your people

Context:

The entirety of the text (except for a small, obvious addition) is taken from a section titled "NEEDS EDITING - New Events" in events.xml -- likely a mix of implemented & unimplemented event ideas left over in the game files as comments. I just moved some lines around and cut a few small parts.

The whole thing already read like poetry, so I just HAD to give it that final push to turn it into the masterpiece it was meant to be. Yes, masterpiece. This is the most proud I've ever been of something I shamelessly plagiarized, and I won't let anyone ruin that for me.
