Artificial gravity or magnet boots

Which do the ships have?

The loud steps the characters take point towards boots, but the slugs makes the same noise.

The fires appear to act like a campfire on earth with normal gravity, but does space fire look like that any way?

Well you'd think artificial gravity, as otherwise junk would end up floating around the ship, making it a difficult enviroment to fight in, but how would that gravity be generated?
