A good idea for a mod.

What about a mod that decreases the reload speed of weapons by half? It would make FTL "faster" and probably harder, too.

Yeah... you'd need to boost shield regeneration considerably, or remove shield damage from various weapons.

The speeds of everything is quite well balanced. Imagine your proposed mod + an ion blast 2 :o

There's no way to decrease the timer from ion damage, which would mean ion weapons would be twice as powerful relative to everything else.

technically you can lower ion time by reducing it's ion damage BUT there is no such thing as a 0.5 ion damage so weapons that do 1 ion damage will be a balance issue.

eg 2 ion damage is twice as long as 1, 4 ion damage is twice as long as 2, etc. lower the time by lower the damage.

But who doesn't like to make difficult games even harder? :)
