Even though FTL is a fantastic game, we occasionally find small graphical quirks that, while not gamebreaking, can be distracting once they have been pointed out.

This .ftl file is meant to patch these small graphical issues--ranging from misplaced pixels, to manning stations blocking doors, to image misalignments, to inconsistencies with other art found in the game--while keeping things as close and as compatible to vanilla as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Code: Select all

Q: You missed something!
A: Great! Let me know either in this post or in a PM!

Q: Will weird things happen if I add this mod in mid-run?
A: Yep. The edited images will change just fine, but the crew will not react to the rotated manning stations, instead typing on the consoles in the original direction that the consoles faced in vanilla.

Q: What if I don't like the rotated manning stations? Having the manning station floating there in the middle of the room looks sort of dumb...
A: One of the main goals with this mod was to change as little as possible about the vanilla gameplay. Moving the manning stations on the two ships that this impacts would change the flow and crew ordering of those ships. If you would still prefer the stations to be not floating, the first mod patch listed in the post below will move the stations to a different tile.

Q: Why did this take you so long to publish?
A: Perfectionism is a cruel mistress. Better late than never, at least?

Special thanks to Anistuffs, Arfy, Biohazard063, fdagpigj, and Mr. Easy Money for assisting in finding things to fix, as well as providing .xml code and art support.

Extras:

The following .ftl files are additional graphical tweaks that either did not quite fit my goals with the Vanilla Friendly Graphics Tweaks mod, or may not be to your taste. They are still of worth to showcase, however.

Changelog:

Code: Select all

12-Feb-2018:
-- Updated all extras to work for FTL 1.6.x
-- Removed the Wired System Buttons
-- Added the Sector Map Scale

Alternate Manning Stations

Not happy with the moved manning stations? This patch to the GFX Tweaks mod rotates the manning stations instead, and is a bit more vanilla friendly.

Alternate Hazard Light

A hazard light appears on the bottom wall of the room whenever there is a breach or a fire. This light appears to block doors if it is in a 1 tile wide room. This image instead contains a hazard light that appears to hang from the ceiling, no longer blocking the door.

Type B and C Enemy Ships

FTL captains have a variety of ship colors to choose from when playing any of the vanilla ship layouts, but the enemy ships are always stuck with the same paint job game after game. This .ftl file patches in additional enemy ship hulls that imitate the type B and C player ships.

Each new ship hull recolor will have the exact same layout and weapon pool as the type A version. Further, each ship type will appear at the same rate as in vanilla with this mod patch.
All of the type B and C enemy ship hulls are pulled from Captain's Edition, which itself uses these ship assets from Tweevle, R4V3-ON, and iiiyyylll, and are used here under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/)

Sector Map Scale
Dropbox Download
Mediafire Download
This modifies the sector maps to include a map scale at the bottom of the jump selection window. The top scale marks the length of Rebel Fleet jumps in normal sectors, and the bottom scale marks the length of Rebel Fleet jumps in nebula sectors.

Hey, thanks a ton for your meticulous work! I just find myself switching back to FTL v1.5 from time to time, and it would be great if I could use your tweak with this version as well. Could you publish the last version of your tweak(s) as well? Thanks!

These are lovely, thank you! I got weirdly annoyed at stuff like this, and the pack of B/C ships was the cherry on top :D
