Burst laser 2 costs more and is a direct upgrade to the Mk 1. Having some weapons that are in every way better than others isn't necessarily bad design, it just adds more to the strategy.

Instead of geting a random crew member when getting a slaver scum to surrender, when their crew is dead, you can choose what guy you want. Aye. Even if you get the rare event where the slavers don't surrender (thus killing all the slaves), if you win via killing their crew, you find a random slave ...

Very true. The only real complaints i have about the kestrel A are 1. Layout is a bit iffy: I don't like having life support so far from the med bay, and the way the weapons room is set up taking a hit there has the nasty tendancy of basically bisecting your ship. 2. I think the main problem with FTL is that the most fun stories come from things like somehow managing to win a fight despite half of your ship being on fire or when your captain sacrifices himself to fix the life support so that the rest of your crew could live, yet in practical terms all those real...

Well, if enemy weapons kept charging then that would make extra cloak time pretty useless. The way I thought of it the charge time also includes your weapons' targeting systems which aren't able to lock on when the enemy goes invisible.

Not once they're inside your ship, but on the way there they count as slow moving missiles and are extremely easy to take out.

If your defense drone isn't otherwise occupied that is.

I think mk I defense drone is actally better then the mk II. During the final boss when I tried using a mk II it got destracted by all the laser spam and kept letting missiles and boarding drones through.

If you are planning to take a ship then the helm tends to have a person in it more often (ie more crew damage).

Something that a lot of people appearently have trouble grasping: Learn to overwhelm your problems, and never underestimate the usefulness of a large crew. If you send one guy to put out a fire and he isn't able to completely snuff it out before he needs to be rushed to the medibay then all you have...
