"Luck" implies (at least to me) that something bad was supposed to happen and you got lucky and avoided it. Like you had 10% dodge and that ship-killing missile missed. Having your defense drone shoot a missile that would have hit your drone system, which would then start a chain reaction...

@Thread in general: I'm not a big fan of all paths being equal, that just isn't how things work out in the real world. If you take a ship intact, it's entirely reasonable to expect that you can acquire more valuable things faster than if you blew it up. It's almost always better to subvert something...

I forgot to mention, but for dodging you only need power in the engines right before an enemy projectile is about to hit. Engines are the easiest system to squeeze for extra power bars. Honestly, a simple fix could be to have more ships do a FTL jump. That would put the boarding party at serious risk if you leave them for too long.
