lasers should be renamed
It's a great game overall, no question about it. But, am I the only one that is bugged by the fact that "lasers" shoot small slowly (relatively) moving blobs instead of a beam? Personally, I think "Blaster" would be a much better name for that weapon type.

Some lasers are called Burst Lasers but you do have a point. They could be globally called Pulse Lasers but there's not enough space to have very long names. It isn't really a big deal, lazars often go pew pew anyway.

I feel like I've seen this suggestion before. Didn't like it then either. "Blaster" sounds both childish and way too Star-Wars-y. Besides which, we'd end up with Bombs, Beams, Blasters... no thank you, sir. Laser sounds just fine to me.

How so?
It's just a different type of damage that weapon deal to target. Let's take for example a plate of metal.
Laser will cut it through with a heat while blaster will crack it with micro-explosions it's projectiles deal. That's all the difference.

Like this.
And granted there's laser-tag and laser-based toys out there too, but when I hear blaster I see bright multi-colored plastic and / or Storm Troopers.
Just a difference of opinion, but to me that's how it sounds "childish."

Something wrong with appealing to Star Wars fans and/or younger audience?

Way to twist my words there, comrade.
Of course there isn't. But we're not talking about "appealing to a different audience," just renaming a particular class of weapons. You stated you favored "blaster," I gave you my reasons for not liking that idea. End of story, don't try to villainize me for it.
