I know it looks fairly dead around here but interested in getting into modding ftl again, (hadn't played since v1.01 lol), unfortunately i can;t seem to find a functioning /dat extractor. The only one that even has a working link, (ftldat), links to github with no clear sign of what file i need. And the two gui ones are either A) out of date, and B) dead links.

Use the Slipstream modman (File - Extract Dats).

Okay having a crashing issue with my ship mod. I'll include it below. To help with testing and because i want it to be compatible i'm running it with the Captain's Edition mod and CE Infinite addon mod, (infinite addon is great for testing). I'm using it with the vanilla loadouts addon but since this replaces an existing ship i doubt thats overly relevant.

The crash occurs randomly when jumping into nebulae, at first i thought it might be an issue with the CE resource pack having a couple of images lacking alpha channels, (i used validate on slipstream to spot that, but even after going in and manually fixing that it's still doing it. it dosen;t do it on every nebulae, it's fairly random. I've got a feeling it may be an event issue but i'm not sure. The log files aren't overly helpful and slipstream says everything about my mod file validates perfectly so i'm not sure where the fault is to fix it.

And yes i'm aware i need to reposition the weapon mounts some more and fix the artillery, (though it's not clear to me how the location of that is defined).

Link to mod on my google drive.

If your ship is causing the crashes, then it sounds like you have more than 30 reactor power when jumping into an ion storm. The game doesn't like that.

If you don't have more than 30 reactor power, then I doubt your ship is causing the crash and it is probably an unrelated CE issue.

As an aside how is the location of Artillery weapons setup?

Artillery is the 5th weapon mount. It doesn't matter if a ship has less than 4 weapon slots, the artillery will still be the 5th weapon mount.

I don't know what happens if you have more than 4 weapon slots. Does artillery share the 5th weapon mount, or does it take the first available mount after all slots are filled?

I'm just thinking out loud there. I don't care what the answer is to that.

DoH, cheers, that explains why my previous attempt to make it use a weapon mount didn't work. I experimented on a 3 weapon design.

Hi there,

Does Slipstream/FTL have a limit on how many characters can be in a mod file? I've recently found that it can't be over 4474 lines or something otherwise it just dies and wont load anything after that.
