Looks like the gap in time is my fault now, oops!

Thanks Boa, but my stdout.txt and stderr.txt files are both blank. Crashlogs is empty and I have no prof.save file.

I've been reading posts on FTL's forum on getsatisfaction.com and have tried everything, I've pretty much given up though. I figure it'll come down to some sort of update or patch, or I'll wait until I get a new laptop in the next year or so.

Again, thanks for the ideas.

Did anyone ever figure this one out?

I downloaded the game on Steam, so I have it on my Macbook and on my PC. It runs fine on my Macbook, but when I try to run it on my PC (Windows 8, nVidia 650 ti, latest drivers) one of two things happens:

A) If running in windowed mode, the game loads fine, however the screen is way too big for my monitor (I play this on an HTPC at 1080p resolution), rendering the game useless
B) If I attempt to run it in full screen (any of the full screen options), the loading bar fills up, the music starts playing, and nothing else happens.

What is going on???

Same issue as has been posted before. Radeon Mobility X1400, W7, etc. Full screen or window doesn't matter, load progress bar completes and music starts with sound effects from me mousing over the menu options. I've played FTL before on another system so I knew roughly where to mouse for the menu.

Will do. It's an older system, hence the Mobility X1400, but I thought it would still meet the sysreqs. :/

I can confirm that opening two instances of the game, 1st via steam and 2nd via FTLGame.exe will get beyond the loading screen.

I have 250+ games, updated drivers etc and am convinced this is an FTL install issue rather than hardware/system related (although I'd happily be proven incorrect).

The problem persists from install to install and survives a traditional uninstall.

Any assistance from SUBSET would be gratefully received as this problem goes back at least 2 years.

One other point,

The captcha question for this forum was: What is a stereotypical English dog name that means the same thing as Cerberus? Any help what answer that should have been? It's bugging me.
