Auto Assault Ship wont autorepair system

Postby Vind » Mon Apr 29, 2013 3:02 am

In a basilisk vs auto-assault drone fight in sector one my boarding drone crashed right into enemy ship bridge and destroyed it. To my surprise enemy ship never repaired system and since ship layout prevents moving inside it i was forced to abandon fight as starting basilisk dont have any weapons. is it intentional and boarding drone prevent auto-repair or its a bug? FTL version 1.03.1 on linux.

It's likely intentional, since this has been known for a very long time (probably obvious for those who have upgraded to Sensors 3).

I sometimes breach a drone's weapon room, then use the drone as target practice from my crew

I suspect it's because the drone was present in the bay so it was considered "under attack." Repairs only happen in rooms that aren't being attacked.

Im not sure about this as auto-scout repaired weapon subsystem while drone was standing in the compartment. Only diference is - auto-scout have doors and drone can move from one system to another.

AI ships don't have the ability to repair a hull breach.

Repair order is always breach -> system.

Since it can't fix the breach, it can't fix the system. if your drone had landed in the pilot room on an AI scout, blew up the system then went on to break several more, the AI wouldn't ever fix the pilot system, because of the breach but would continue to repair any of the other systems damaged by the drone.

Breaches are representative of massive damage to a room, shredded metal and a gaping hole is pretty intense. It's intentional that the AI cannot repair it, and adds an additional benefit to weapons like the Breach Bomb.

But auto assault probes don't have it.
