((Sorry to interject, but I notice the header for this still says "Characters Welcome". Are you still accepting new side characters or people who could join this late in the story?))

Just submit your character, I'll approve it, and you'll be in the story!

Just make sure you are up to speed on all the elements of the story. While you don't have to read the whole thing, you should totally read the start and end of the thread, and AT LEAST skim the stuff in the middle.

Everyone seemed to be flocking to the Pelican for whatever R&R they deserved. Jake obviously wasn't welcome there, which put him in a position of solitude.

Jake Collins was a great leader. He was a thinker - he analyzed all elements of the situation. He weighed risks and benefits and assessed potential outcomes. This was not to say he was perfect. His decision to dive into the gaping maw of a wormhole was not a calculation. Jake had a kind of fire burning inside him. A fire which sometimes, when fueled with the right opportunity, burned brighter than his mind of reason. As he gazed into that wormhole, Jake's fire burned brighter than ever. Discovery, adventure, and the unknown awaited him. It was the same fire that burned as he darted into the musty cockpit of the Robin A. It was his spark, it was his life, it was his soul. It was Jake Collins.

His fire burned dimly now, a few embers warming his soul as he gazed out of the open airlock. Jake was sitting in an EVA suit, in an airlock. His legs dangled into open space, as he sat on his perch. Jake had extended the Mature's gravity field exactly one yard beyond the hull of the ship, barely within acceptable limits. This meant that his legs felt a normal, earthlike, weight as they dangled off the edge and into open space. So there Jake sat, his legs slowly kicking back and forth over an endless abyss of stars.

This was his quiet little activity, his quiet little world. Slowly, he sighed, and pushed off of the door frame, tumbling gently into the universe. He felt a slight tug as he exited the over-extended gravity field of the Mature. He waited for his body to slowly flip over, and grabbed the holds outside of the Mature's airlock. He pushed up along the side of the hull. A few seconds later he reached the top of the Mature's hull. He pulled himself across the smooth surface of the top-hull, and now floated slightly above the mature. Looking to his left, he could see the Scarab docked, and after that the Pelican. Behind him, looking out and away from the Aft Airlock, he could see many Lanius ships hovering in the distance.

Sediment stepped into a large room on the Pelican, which seemed to be a cargo hold, half surprised to see the blood filled walls of the ship, struggling to hold back the vomit. Well what do you expect on a ship made entirely of cannibals. He looked around to already see several of the crew around the place, two of whom were already playing a game of poker on one of the boxes. He eyed a burst laser mark II, wondering why it wasn't equipped on the ship. Then he remembered, Oh right, that model. Surprised it even got to the ship with the riot going on.

Bren, Gorlag and Grom had arrived on the Pelican, many of the people looking at Bren and Gorlag, a Zoltan and Slug would make for an interesting meal, of course they were not allowed to try it.

Bren pulled out his deck of cards, "So whose up for a game of 5 card draw, and no Gorlag isn't playing, we all know never to gamble wiht a slug" he said chuckling

Gorlag laughed a bit

"Isn't that the truth, we all agree to that...makes it akward when you go to a slug casino, no one wants to bet with each other" the slug said

Sediment saw the crew of the Scarab walk in. He wandered over to Bren, making sure to keep some distance between him and Gorlag. After months of being chased by bounty hunters and pirates, he knew never to trust a slug and developed a sort of fear of them. "Is everyone on this ship a cannibal," He quietly asked Bren, making sure none of the Pelican's crew can hear him, "there must be some sort of person with a moderate degree of common sense running the place." He hated the thought of a ship filled with nothing but crazy cannibals with a thurst for the meat of the living.

"Its complicated" he said, "I'm not judging them, but their leader is pretty sane at least. And don't worry, according to them Rocks don't taste good"
