I've noticed that. I can't help but wonder if that's deliberate on the script writer's part so as to have better chances of surviving; as off topic forums tend to be less moderated. EDIT- 12 now. Good grief. I wasn't aware we were such a high priority target for this sort of thing.

Edit- Good work Stelly.

Yeah, it's getting really bad now. There are more frequent posts from bots then normal people. There needs to be something added to registration, a Captcha check or typing in "I am human" or something.

To my understanding, one has already been added. Bots can get around that though.

I'm not sure what other phpBB tools are there, not too familiar but there's got to be something.
Be excellent to each other.

Email verification would be one thing. You could also add a simple logic question answer combo that ought to fool any bot. Eg- DiG uses "What do you put under your arms?" with a big picture of deodorant under it. The applicant answers the question based from logic and the picture and there you go. Bots typically can't handle that sort of thing.

We are thinking about using a Q&A Captcha, also we have some other options like DNS blacklist, I was also thinking about email verification as well... might be more trouble though...
