The Curious ExpeditionDon't know where to begin with that one. It's cute, fun, addictive and utterly, utterly unfair.
Whereas FTL lets you temper the RNG with quite a bit of skill, Curious Expedition just loooves to screw you over. It's a bit heavy on the unstable equilibrium, which means minor setbacks often snowball into epic fails. Which can get frustrating. And I could do without the mechanic that sets you against random AI opponents. The smug bastards never seem to die. I'd much rather prefer to play against the run-throughs of real players.
But the pixel art is just wonderful, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the game has a real knack for emergent storytelling. Like with FTL, I often don't care that I lost (again), because the way that led me there was just so unique and memorable.
And you can ride dinosaurs. So yeah.
