Endarire's List of Requests and Suggestions!

Greetings, all!

Easily Implemented
-When your ship isn't in danger, set oxygen to 100% (if O2 is powered) and heal all my crewmen to 100% (if Medbay is powered). If there are any hull breaches, set oxygen to the maximum for the hull breach. (It's a convenience thing, and make it a toggle which is enabled by default.)

-At shops, let me sell fuel, missiles, and drone parts! (For example, clicking my fuel icon would let me sell one unit of fuel. Alternatively, increase the window size and list how much scrap I would get for fuel/missiles/drone parts.)

-Allow me to open the Ship window while my ship is in danger to see exactly what my systems, weapons, drones, and other equipment do. Don't allow me to upgrade anything while my ship is in danger.

-Allow me to activate my distress beacon even when I have fuel so I can lure enemy ships in for trading and fights.

-After I've done something in the game (so much playtime, ships killed, ships unlocked, sector reached, etc.) just let my crew start with max ranks in piloting, engines, weapons, and shields so I don't need to train in Sector 1 for about an hour in every game.

-Upon mousing over the difficulty settings, tell me what's special about them. Why is Easy easier than Normal?

-More information! I need to rely on the Internet to tell me why a Crew Teleporter Slaughter gets me a better reward than just killing the ship outright, and for everything else not immediately apparent in the game. Learning the stuff on my own makes me feel accomplished, but I also wish I would've known it beforehand. I still don't know if any of the races don't need to breathe.

-Allow me to toggle seeing the other ship window. Hiding it is helpful to see when asteroids and enemy shots are incoming!

-Free Roaming Mode! After reaching Sector 8 or so, remove the need to get to the exit ASAP and just let me explore! No end boss, no end sector, unless I specifically retired my ship.

-Allow me an easy way to change the default name of the ships. I prefer Ebon Destiny for Stealth Cruiser A.

Probably Best Saved for an Expansion or Sequel
-Custom ship layouts! I know mods already allow this, but being able to do this in-game seems wonderful! Perhaps use a point system (like in Freedom Force) to determine how many crewmen, systems, and space I get within my ship.

-Allow me to customize and upgrade my weapons! Why can't my crack team of Engi tweak the fire rate or the firepower of their Ion Cannon with a bit of scrap? Why can't they spend some scrap to turn a Burst Laser II into a Burst Laser III or vice versa?

-Steam achievements and synchronization! Base my ship unlocks to my Steam account instead of having them local.

-Multi-ship combat! Fighting with an ally or few against more than one ship at a time makes for far more chaotic combat! Perhaps purchase extra ships and crew at shops, or enlist your friends! (See below.) For sanity's sake, assume your fleet moves with you. (If you do include asynchronous fleet movement, good luck!)

-Competitive Multiplayer! Being able to bet my ship against another friend's ship seems in the spirit of FTL.

-Cooperative Multiplayer! I'd like to be able to assign crewmen to a friend. If multi-ship combat is included, we'd move together as a fleet (or separately, if that's allowed).

1) Too OP. It will exclude the exact risk of doing mistakes. Also it will decrease number of epic fails, but who cares? And how to deal with remaining fire if you escape sun beacon, for example?

2) Oh, yes, yes and yes! Let's make the selling price, for example, half as much as buying price.

3) What's the point? You can hover our mouse over every weapon and drone to receive the short info of it's features.

4) Sounds like a nice idea.

5) Um, it does tell. Easy allows to loot more scrap. Also it does give 30 scrap upon start.

6) So true, it must be in tips at least.

7) Too complicated because sometimes you NEED to see enemy ship constantly.

8) Maybe just another game mode? Separate from main 'campaign'? Something like 'Free Space' mode which allows to travel over more sectors just for fame, glory and scrap. Simply survive as much as possible.

9) Aww yeah, point based system of customization. Will go well with 'Free Space' mode.

10) It's like having workbench in Dead Space or Mass Effect. You need to think this over thoroughly. I say customization need to be wise or maybe a bit random (like goblin tinkerer's reforge feature from Terraria) and with many small modificators (like +1% to recharge rate or decreased accuracy).

11) That would be really cool.

12) Again, too complicated, yet very interesting. your own fleet? Sweet. :3 I want an auto-scout. ^^

13, 14) Yay! =D

No. Part of the danger of breaches is it drains your oxygen and suffocates crew. With this, you don't have to do anything, as the danger level is zero after a fight

-At shops, let me sell fuel, missiles, and drone parts! (For example, clicking my fuel icon would let me sell one unit of fuel. Alternatively, increase the window size and list how much scrap I would get for fuel/missiles/drone parts.)
Yes, but at a heavily reduced price. Even less than the black markets where you sell missiles and drones.

-Allow me to open the Ship window while my ship is in danger to see exactly what my systems, weapons, drones, and other equipment do. Don't allow me to upgrade anything while my ship is in danger.
Don''t see why not. I am confused as to what my weapon stats are occasionally

-Allow me to activate my distress beacon even when I have fuel so I can lure enemy ships in for trading and fights.
Maybe

-After I've done something in the game (so much playtime, ships killed, ships unlocked, sector reached, etc.) just let my crew start with max ranks in piloting, engines, weapons, and shields so I don't need to train in Sector 1 for about an hour in every game.
Nope. Why do you even spend an hour training in sector one? Your crew will level up by themselves through the game.
-Upon mousing over the difficulty settings, tell me what's special about them. Why is Easy easier than Normal?
It already does tell you what the difference is.

The races do what the descriptions say they are. (Except for some blue options) All races breathe air. The teleporter increased reward is mentioned in the tips at the start of a game.

-Allow me to toggle seeing the other ship window. Hiding it is helpful to see when asteroids and enemy shots are incoming!
Uhh, why?

-Free Roaming Mode! After reaching Sector 8 or so, remove the need to get to the exit ASAP and just let me explore! No end boss, no end sector, unless I specifically retired my ship.
Infinite mode is being modded currently and has been suggested around 515225154151 times.

-Steam achievements and synchronization! Base my ship unlocks to my Steam account instead of having them local.
The game is synchronised with steam cloud already
-Multi-ship combat! Fighting with an ally or few against more than one ship at a time makes for far more chaotic combat! Perhaps purchase extra ships and crew at shops, or enlist your friends! (See below.) For sanity's sake, assume your fleet moves with you. (If you do include asynchronous fleet movement, good luck!)

Multiplayer was also suggested a billion times.

This would certainly be great, although the price should be pretty low.

It's a bit frustrating to be just a little short of being able to buy the cloaking system while still having 50+ missiles you can't even use.

How about this:

If you're not "in danger", and you jump out of a system with O2 and Medbay both powered, you will enter the next system with 100% O2 and all crewmen healed.

This also occurred to me. I was wondering if "Rebel fleet catch-up" time ticked on the encounter/battle screen. I don't think it does. If it doesn't, then this change wouldn't make the game any "easier" in a non-stupid way: you'd get the same advantage (100% O2 and 100% health) if you took the time to tediously wait around for the ship's O2 meter to fill up and also walked all crew to medbay then back to their posts.

It would make it "easier" in the sense of "not having to spend 5 trivial minutes where the only possible outcome is 100% O2 and 100% health but 5 minutes of lost RL time".

Uhh, the Rebels are not in real time

Yes. It just wastes real world time. You don't have to wait for the "JUMP" to charge after combat, I see no reason why you should wait for O2.

Mataza's List of Rebuttals and Rejections:

-Making Fuel/Missiles/Drones sellable would make enemy surrender always worthwhile, i.e removing the decision. Also it would make the selling events obsolete.

-Leveling your crew actually does very little if you think about it.
Guns get 10% speed for being manned, and 19% for being manned by an expert.
Shields recharge very fast already.
Engine and pilot give you combined the evasion of simply upgrading your engine twice. If you rely on that, then you have bad priorities.

-The game already tells you that easy rewards more scrap and enemies are generated easier. There is nothing else to it.

-Taking a ship intact giving more rewards than picking up debris of a destroyed from space is intuitive. Doing the harder thing gives more rewards is also intuitive, else nobody would do it.

-You only seeing part of the screen is intended. Might as well demand to see what's happening to the left, up or down. You would only notice that shots come from thin air.

This is satire and I hope you understand what I'm trying to express with it.

Strictly speaking this depends on the price. If the shop selling price would be low enough (such as one scrap per 4 missiles) it would cause neither or those problems but would still allow you to do something with all the extra stuff you've picked up along the way.
