Suggestions: Vote for new features

Just a few suggestions from my playthroughs . If you follow the links below, you can vote for the ones that you like.

Newly Submitted
  • Different Scrap Rewards based on victory tactic - The types of reward that you get could depend on how you defeated a ship (follow link for examples)
  • Unlock Challenges = I'd quite like to see unlock challenges that promote a certain type of gameplay so that a player can try out different tactics.
  • Save Ship Build at end of game - When I'm looking back on my high scores, I'd like to be able to see the weapons, upgrades and crew that my ship had when it completed the game or got destroyed.
  • Racial BiasRaces currently have specialisms which boost their initial stats. I quite like the idea of their max skill bars varying as well to reflect their diversity i.e. let them reach a third tier for some skills but limit them to a single tier for others.

Implemented in 0.12.6.6
  • Extended Sensors Special Options If you're ship has extended sensors equipped then there could be a special option for tracking ships lost in nebula/asteroids and/or locating bases/info???

Some of these things should never be implemented. They are just wrong, wrong, wrong! Others...well, I liked them :D

I think the upgrades for weapons would be cool and most of the Tweaks would be awesome especially having crew go back to their assigned locations after they are done repairing another part of the ship.

Ability to toggle your boarding party from attacking the subsystem room they are in to avoid them blowing themselves up if there is one hull hp left and you cant move them, aka automated ship or boss

ability to self destruct your boarding drone so you can send a new one if it is stuck in a room with no doors, aka boss or automated drone (but limit this with a long CD similar to cloaking to avoid spamming of breaches)

Talents acquired by crew after reaching green and then gold level in skills, or even a racial skill that unlocks for example psychic slugs can detect breaches and fires or mantis can eat slain boarders or enemy crew to heal a little. Humans get nothing because they are boring and uninteresting.

Maybe in a story mode crew can become weary and hungry, would be interesting to see implementations of crew needing to sustain themselves by sleeping in bunks or visiting the kitchen. Dont know how it could be implemented without making it an annoying thing you just fill their sleep and hunger bars after a fight. Or just make it realism mode that does include those features? :)

Also i think it would be awesome if venting into space could actually suck crew and boarders out the airlocks if they are near them when they depressurise, make this not happen in breaches though that would suck

point defence guns would be fun, similar to a defence drone. allows defence against missiles for ships that dont start with the drone system at the sacrifice of a gun slot. Or even make it a subsystem that can be manned by a gunner :D

Also i would die of happiness if there ever was a multiplayer component, where lots of balancing took place and pit players against one another races could have strengths and weaknesses but make it balanced as all hell. I would love to pew pew other players.
On a related note to the multiplayer it would be cool if you could have 3 ships on screen on each side so you could focus fire etc or beam crew over to friendly ships to help repairs. This would be awesome in single player if at higher sectors you might have to face off two ships or have a small npc controlled ship join your fleet :)

Sorry for the big post i just have a lot of ideas that i think would be really fun but feel free to tell me whether you think they would be balanced or not or if they would even be possible in the engine that they use :)

We're of course going to take all of your ideas into consideration; there's been a lot of good suggestions. However, just remember that in the end we're still going to make the game that we want to make. Hopefully you'll like what we decide on. :)
If you're having hull problems, I feel bad for you son. I've got 99 problems but a breach ain't one.

Well so far i'm extremely happy with the game :) I haven't sunk over 40 hours into a game and not become bored with it in a long time

I have a few ideas.

1. The ability to upgrade your crew, whether it's branching off into new classes, a skill tree system, or giving them the option of carrying an item. All of these could further increase their skills, or give them some sort of neat passives/abilities. Some examples could be: reset cooldown for weapons once per battle, launch a temporary droid (attack or repair), temporary invulnerability for occupied room, heal other crew members, steal supplies from enemy ship, instantly kill an intruder, sprint/teleport between rooms, insta-repair, fire suppression kit, find shop, +bonus to certain weapon/droid types ETC.

2. I think it would be really neat to have an "arena event", where you face off against a sequential string of entered "gladiators". Each challenger will become increasingly difficult. You cannot repair your ship, but you have the choice of calling it quits and reaping the spoils of the defeated opponents. This could appear randomly, or as a quadrant on the zone map.

3. Faction points? You can either try to side with civilians, mercenary, or slugs. Whoever you are sided with will give you different options during certain scenarios.

4. When you are boarded by enemies, have them drop loot when you kill them, whether it be for the ship, credits, missiles, or if you are feeling really ambitious, have them drop equipment that you can use with your own crew members to enhance them (items such as laser pistols, light sabres, armor, etc.)

5. Multiplayer/coop mode?

6. Crafting? You could gather materials to craft/upgrade equipment, create hull reinforcement, or make your own droids.

7. Ability to purchase reinforcement armor (maybe something like 3-6 additional hull points), that becomes destoyed/lost after it is damaged.

That's all I have for now, I'm sure I'll be able to come up with more later.
