Why the Rebels fell apart after the Flagship was blown up

The Google definition of "flagship" is: "the ship in a fleet that carries the commanding officer."
So, it can be concluded that, with the destruction of the rebel flagship, the commander of the rebels would have most likely died as well as some other high-ranking officers.
This would then cause a loss of order and organisation and also the demoralisation of losing their best ship, among the rebels which would cause them to fall apart like... Very crumbly scones.
TL, DR: Rebel flagship held commander of rebels, rebels fell apart because of lack of order, organisation and also demoralisation.
