Question about the last boss

I was heading for certain victory last night , had the equipment i needed including 4 man teleporter. I beat up 3 of the 4 main weapons guys on the boss ship , i went back to destroy the drone control when poof! the nemy ship left with my 4 men . I would say i was gutted but to be honest i had to laugh as i had ridden my luck on many occasion with my boarding parties.

Does the boss leave after a certain time? or after his hull has taken a certain amount of damage? or after a certain overall damage amount?

Whats the best tactic against the bosses drones? i was using stealth when i could and seemed to be holding on but when my 4 crewmen dissapeared i kinda gave up.

When you see the big warning that says "Power surge", it means the boss is overloading whatever things he has and sending an insane amounts of drones/heavy lasers your way, and it's true that stealth is the absolutely best way to deal with this.

And I'm pretty sure the boss leaves when he's completely out of hull, because that's when part of him explodes and he FTLs away to save himself, so it's basically like any other boarding parties, get them out of there before he runs out of hull.

The final boss will jump out when it's hull strength reaches 0. Fully destroying a subsystem (turning it red) will do 1 point of hull damage. You must've been attacking it when it only had 1 hull remaining, and then destroying the drone control made it jump out.

Vs the second stage boss, destroy the missile launcher + beam first, then take out the drone control. Save your stealth for the drone barrage. With the drone control destroyed, you don't need to worry about the enemy boarding drone, and the drone barrage only lasts for a few seconds. With a decent amount of evade, you shouldn't take much (if any) damage, even without stealthing.

thanks for the replies , i guess his hull got to zero without me noticing , usually i keep a beady eye on that but guess i must have slipped up. I'll be fine next time if thats the case.

I probably got sloppy as i never really damage hulls just kill everyone on board but on the boss you are killing a lot of internal systems and i was firing missiles for fun as i had loads.

Boarding is a bit OP with 4 man teleporter but it can go badly wrong when your incompetent or have really bad luck , i remember when my drone killed one of my own men.

yeah, if you assumed you were going to blow up the final boss and didn't bother to bring your boarding party back they will be gone for the 2nd and 3rd parts

This i think is great; for all the stuff I would change I think this is a cool way to lose people
