Fregatidae (Federation C) - Full Assault Ship - Hard Mode

So the "Fregatidae" is considered as a weak ship in the game, and I couldn't agree more. It's very challenging, and often frustrating ship to get going, and it feels like a struggle throughout the run.

The time I played here, there was no exception, I was down to 4 remaining hull points - after the first jump in sector 1 (!). But, as usual I persevered, and half way through sector 4, I acquired a second mantis crewman, and things started to look a bit better.

The first two pictures of the series starts on the exit of sector 7. I decided to snap it, in case I made it through to the end of the game, and people could see how it went after that.

- Up to that point, near all battles were fought as boarding actions, sometimes sending over the entire crew.
- The weapons system was not upgraded from its starting level of 1, to level 4, until sector 6, because I was encountering too many high weapon assault ships then. Yes, until then if I needed to "fire a weapon" the flack artillery was used.
- The small bomb is the only thing bought (at a store in sector 7), and as of yet, never used.
- Everything else you see was acquired as rewards from boarding actions.
- A lot of scrap was spent on repairs, throughout the entire run. A lot of scrap...
- Three hostile jumps in a row, were required to get to the Federation base. This is why you'll see my crew killing off the last of their boarders, as well as my hull being only at 18 points to start...

Note: If you are wondering if you are seeing things correctly during Phase 1 of the Rebel Flagship fight - you are. Yes indeed, I did send the entire crew over to board the Rebel Flagship. This was typical of the run, and why I have included "Full Assault" in the thread title.

Very well done. Many people overlook the strategy of wiping the ship clean of enemies. Sure, the ship slowly heals itself but is that REALLY that much worse than all those Rebels running around fixing everything in sight?

ah, Zoltan shield bypass. So nice for that last phase :)
