Hello modders, I doubt multiplayer is possible but extracting the content might be useful in a clone.
I started on a clone using all original components in the free version of unity3d too, if that's something someone would be interested in pursuing with me I could setup up to 5 people on TFS for source control.

if any content is used from FTL we would need to extract it from an existing user's installation when installing our clone
My reasoning for starting on this was playing some BSG on the tabletop and the fun multiple people can have in a similar game.

Lose weapon system = No point to playing since you will lose at that point.
