There's no need to send me the ftl file anymore, since we confirmed that the problem is with wrong archives being patched.

I don't know if it's going to work (since I'm not the author of GMM, and I've never had such issues), but go to GMM's folder, find a file named modman.ini. You'll find a variable named ftl_dats_path there. Change it so that it points to the resources folder inside your FTL's installation.

In my case, it looks like this: ftl_dats_path = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FTL Faster Than Light\resources
For you, since you said you've put FTL inside GMM, you should change it to look like this: ftl_dats_path = C:\(...)\GMM\FTL Faster Than Light\resources
Of course, replace the (...) with proper location of GMM.

Save the file, close it, and try patching some mods to see if it works.

Ok I was about to try that and realised 2 things, there is no modman.idi folder/file, so I simply relocated FTL to another location and GMM prompted me to tell it where is was again which I have done, so the path for the .dat should be back to normal.

Also, I'm on windows 7 64-bit, using Superluminal WINx64, but my GMM is the Win32 v1.7....could that cause these issues?

Nah, GMM is the same for both versions of Windows.

The in which case I'm going to just resign to my lack of modding skills and throw my laptop out of the nearest airlock. I think I've tried everything now and it still doesn't work :-(

Thanks for the assist dude.

@SenorSmaySmay
GMM needs to be run as administrator on Windows 7

@daveking
Huh. Then I dunno, really. It shouldn't be possible for modman.ini to be missing... *shrug*

I cant run Modman.exe as admin because it wont work anyways. It says no version of python is installed. So I use the main.py. And I cant find it in the run cmd thing.

I'm not sure what you mean by "I can't find it".

If you get:
'...' is not recognized as an internal or external command.
True, the exe doesn't work, but some version of Python does need to be present, if you haven't installed one already.

If you get:
The system cannot find the path specified.
You mistyped the path to the folder. As you type, hitting tab one or more times will autocomplete names.

Or you can drag the folder onto a non-admin prompt to see its path typed out.

...this thread really needs an FAQ section...
