A little bug report/suggestion:
1. on linux (unix version), the preference tick telling it to save geometry on exit does nothing. While it's minor, having it would really speed up changing mods while having long list (and with things like randtrel/random flagship, it becomes noticeable - sure, ''first world problem'', but still ).
2. It would be nice to have option that remembers which mods were "ticked" to be applied (so one doesn't have to re-tick them on every start of mod manager). Again, would *really* speed up process of re-enabling mods that require doing so before every run (randomizing stuff, and things like artillery crash fix). Ticked/unticked status could be saved in modorder file, for example. Of course, in case of finding new (differently-named) mod, the thing would default to "unticked".

@reaperofzombies
Try this other batch file . If it doesn't run SMM, then it means you've messed something up while installing Java.
@Estel
Huh, the geometry save works fine on Windows, and there should be no differences between platforms in this regard. Weird.

The system cannot find the file C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath\java.exe.
Press any key to continue . . .
your new batch says this. so yeah. java verified i installed it correctly like 3 times. now what ?
maybe i have java in the wrong folder or something? idk

Maybe some old-fashioned way of saving options locally, in some human-editable text file, would help?
@reaper - well, just check if you have java.exe at the location given?... I guess it would be easier (and faster) than writing about it on forum, as nobody will check that for you (presence on your machine), anyway

@Estel
SMM already does that -- you can edit the modman.cfg file by hand using any text editor. The property that remembers the locations & size is manager_geometry. It uses a simple syntax to denote the various dimensions, mine for example looks like this:
Means: set the main window's size to 522x484, and put it at (699, 230) relative to top left corner of the screen. The divider is the location of the line dividing the SMM's window into the mod order section and the description section.
@reaper
Well, the 0kb file is a symlink, basically a shortcut... Your system should be treating it like the normal, valid exe. Maybe you've installed Java in a custom location, and for some reason the links are not updated. Or maybe your system doesn't understand them for some reason. If it's the former, just install it in the default location. In case of the latter, I doubt I can help you.

Thank you, and shame on me - I used to edit that file by hand, but totally forget about its existence during my short break from FTL
Anyway, I've played a little with it, and notice a pattern:
First, the geometry *is* properly saved to modman.cfg. That's good. But, it seems to get ignored on program start. Of course, I've ensured for 105% that every file is owned by user (not root) and user got permissions to read, write, etc.
Now,, given the above, *if* I start mod manager as root, change geometry and exit, on next run - either as user or root - the correct geometry will be loaded.
Hoever, if I change the geometry - or position - while it is started as user, on next start, it loads default geometry/position. What the big F? No idea.

Re: Slipstream Mod Manager v1.6 (2014-10-25)
I cant select the resources\data.dat because SIMM keeps crashing saying:
[0x7FFF1633CD00] ANOMALY: meaingless REX prefix used --- then 5 seconds later Java crashes
Im running FTL 1.5.13 via Steam fresh installed no mods
I have Java 7u79 both x86 and x64 and Java 8u45 both x86 and x64 installed
I'm running windows 10 Insiders Preview Build 10130 x64 fully Updated
contents of modman-log.txt:
17:12:46.733 [AWT-EventQueue-0] DEBUG net.vhati.modmanager.FTLModManager - Slipstream Mod Manager v1.6
17:12:46.735 [AWT-EventQueue-0] DEBUG net.vhati.modmanager.FTLModManager - Windows 8.1 6.3

17:12:46.786 [AWT-EventQueue-0] DEBUG net.vhati.modmanager.FTLModManager - FTL dats path was not located automatically. Prompting user for location.
I've tried putting the files into the FTL root directory next to FTLGame.exe and also in it's own folder Slipstream Mod Manager v1.6-Win.... Have also tried running both exes as Admin and without Admin neither works....

Re: Slipstream Mod Manager v1.6 (2014-10-25)
It's a general Java error, not specific to SMM. From what I found it's related to graphic's card driver. Anyhow, it seems to occur pretty randomly.
Try updating/reinstalling your graphic driver. If you have AMD card, try deleting amd gaming evolved/ raptr.
It could also be a bug with the Win10 preview or some compatibility issue. In this case you'll just have to wait for it to be fixed...

Based on this I closed Raptr and it worked.... Thanks for the help....
