I wasn't thinking they'd still need to download USB. They'd just include the sector booksellers.

Hello!

I've tried this mod manager on a Mac away from home and it works a treat, which is great. However, since I'm playing FTL at home on Linux using Wine, I can't access the data.dat file through the mod manager itself as it does not allow me to directly type in which directory path I want to go through to find the file and I cannot find the .wine folder when looking at /home through the mod manager. If you could provide me with any kind of help/advice, I'd really appreciate it!

Cheers,

Heh. You did something I didn't think of. :P

Create a text file named "modman.cfg" in the Slipstream folder, containing the following line.

Code: Select all

ftl_dats_path=/home/YOUR_NAME/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/FTL/resources

Something like that anyway.
Not showing hidden folders is a bug that will be fixed.

If you let me know where you've got FTL installed, I can ensure Slipstream knows where to look in future versions. ;)

Great, thanks for the advice! :D

The FTL data.dat file is currently located here:

Code: Select all

/home/*MY NAME*/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/FTL/resources

EDIT: Created the file and tried running it again but it didn't change anything. Not too sure if that was all I was supposed to do or not (?).

That should have been all you needed.
  • Check that "modman.cfg" is there and still says what you wrote.
  • Run the mod manager (modman.command, not the jar); get prompted to find resources for some reason (???); cancel.
  • Look at "modman-log.txt" in Slipstream's folder...

You should at least find "Using FTL dats path from config: /home/blah/..." confirming that the config file was found.

You may find "The config's ftl_dats_path does not exist, or it lacks data.dat." which would suggest a typoed config.

It now works, thank you very much! ;)

EDIT: I was using the .jar file, not the .command file, which changed everything. Again, many thanks for helping me out!

hi there.
just got ftl the other day, and i really want some mods. as i have overgrowth and other indie games, i know there are a lot of fun mods for them. i keep all my games on an external hard drive (my passport for mac) because my laptop is supplied by my school, and we cant have games. how can i find the FTL.app or data file if there on my hard drive?

Hello everybody! SMM completely stops working after the first instance, perhaps someone could help me out? It installs mods fine the very first time I use it, however the next time I start FTL all mods are uninstalled and I can't even try to re-install the mods.

Vhati - How open are you to receiving pull requests including new features. I'm thinking of the one I mentioned before to allow a find to succeed only if the target element was NOT found. Also, I'm thinking about a clone feature to avoid having to paste the same event in multiple times.
