I plan to get that implemented eventually, but it's not a priority for the release.

There's actually not much to worry about; if you export your ship from Superluminal as a .ftl file, you can load it in Superluminal2; all you need to do is to load it under File > Mod Management, then go to File > Open, search under the entry that you saved the ship under, and simply select and open it. You should see the name and information for your previously designed ship there. :)
