Which is why I don't really like you...

Not really 'pick up', more like "rehash all over again" :D

"new modders" come and go, but I tend to be the last guy standing.

I'm with shark on this one. Having a tip-jar for people who feel like tossing some pennies at you for a job well done, that's one thing. And if you want to monetize your links... well that's your choice.
But most of us, if you haven't noticed, mod because we feel like contributing to a game we love and want to improve upon. Coming in here and saying "I sold out and made $X!" is... not going to be looked kindly upon. Words like "disrespectful," "insulting," and "demeaning" come to mind. Sure that's your perogative as a modder, but it is not something worth bragging about.

EDIT:
I looked on Mediafire and saw the Obisidian had close to 5,000 downloads.
Do you think anybody on these boards would respect me if I started boasting how much money an adf.ly link would've made with that? Because I find that kind of attitude repulsive.

I use adf.ly, but not for my FTL mods. I get about a penny per click so you'd have made about $5.

IMO, making money off of your mods is fine. It's not like adf.ly is THAT intrusive and as a user I feel good about helping someone who made something for me to enjoy. Boasting about the money you made is not fine. Boasting about making enough to buy a sandwich... seems even more wrong. Nobody's getting rich off modding FTL.

Maybe Justin and Matt are, since we're all doing such a good job of advertising their game. I'm ok with that!
All ships I have created include custom weapons, graphics etc:

Haha! Me too. The richer they get the quicker we get FTL2.

Or whatever other game they wish to produce under the Subset label. :) I wouldn't be surprised if they're a bit tired of FTL at this point. I do hope whatever they make next has less hard-coded stuff in it.

Your math is a little off. Unless you meant a tenth of a penny...?

I meant a 1/10th of a penny. Oops.

And it's worse than that even, because you have people who won't download your mod BECAUSE it's on Adfly. So, you have to decide what you want more: Money or downloads.

For my stuff I put on Adfly, I put 2 links, one to Adfly and one to the direct download so people could chose. Roughly half chose to use Adfly which was just fine with me.

Now see, that I can get behind. It's not that I don't believe modders should be compensated for the time they put in, I just don't think that if you do choose to monetize stuff, it's a point worth boasting over. Personally I'm happy enough just knowing people enjoy what I create.

...Now I just need to get back to creating... :?

I have the exactly same thinking that Kieve, if someone publish their mods here, its supossed the purpose is to let people just enjoy your creations, not to gain money with em lol. That is so sad. i dont think too much people will click in the addfly link.. lol (but im sure the direct download link is down a lot of times  )
