[MOD][NEW UPDATE! 3.3.2013][v1.2] Advanced Battle Systems

Advanced Battle Systems v1.2

New in v1.2!
Events are rewritten so there are no asteroids and there is a new background!

NEW in v1.1!
Catalyst78 adds new graphics! Yeah!

Introduction
Lots of new features to maximize the power of your ship! In v2.0, the asteroid storm bug is eliminated!

EDITS:
Before posting about being OP please consider the scrap costs! :D
Thank Catalyst78 for the 5 Shields Graphic!

Features
  • Max power of teleporter increased to 4
    • Level 4 is instant cooldown, but costs 150 scrap
  • Max power of cloaking is increased to 8
    • Level 8 is 40 seconds cloak. I tried to balance it by making it cost a lot of scrap, let me know what you think!
  • Max power of weapons increased to 12 (from Advanced Weapons and Shields)
    • Level 12 Weapons=12 weapon energy bars
  • Max power of shields increased to 10 (from advanced weapons and shields)
    • That's 5 shield bars! The Shields+ graphic was created by Catalyst78, send a thank you PM!
  • Rewritten events to prevent asteroid storm
  • New asteroid field background (no asteroids)

40 seconds of cloak? plus level 4 teleport....plus stealth weapons... That qualifies as OP...

I made the scrap prices insanely high, though. Should I make them higher? To get to level 8 cloaking you need 560 scrap, plus eight power bars, which is about 200 scrap. 760 scrap! And you probably won't be able to fully power it anyway, since 8 is about 1/3 of a ship's power capacity. Level 4 teleporter costs 150 scrap, plus 4 power bars. I'm not sure about the teleporter, should I change the cost to 250 scrap or something? :)

I wouldn't know, I haven't played it. The power restraints might be enough balance, though. I dunno. we'll see.

Just like advanced weapons and shields, this mod causes you to get BOMBARDED by asteroids when in an asteroid belt.

Hehehe...

@nathary: if you bother to make upgrades, you might as well make them reachable. otherwise you're pushing out locked content that just has sideeffects.

Have you tried it out? I'm not sure if it's balanced or the upgrades are just unreacheable. I mean, if you focus ALL your scrap on cloaking you could probably get level 8... Thanks for your response! :D

I've tested it on my Windows 7 and it works fine.
What operating system do you have and where did you download your FTL?

There's nothing in the code that has to do with asteroids, but to prevent the problem should I just eliminate asteroid fields from the game altogether?
