Weapon direction is one of the things which can't be changed, which is a large part of why you don't see people doing perspective-shift mods. However, you can "cheat" it by not having a projectile, but having a firing visual as part of the weapon itself. Check out my ultrasonic cannon in D...

far as i know the low/med/high values only apply to numerical stuff like scrap/fuel/ammo, not to the quality of item you get.

floor image is a layer between hull graphic and the rooms, and is only visible when the rooms are visible, i.e. not when jumping. in game it's used for the grey border around the rooms. if you aren't going to include such a border, you should include a transparent png for the floor layer.

Small update from me:
I'm extremely busy IRL currently so don't really have time to dedicate to this,
however!
I will be back and with considerably more free time after 15th June

I was thinking something like standard hulls = european, blocky hulls = oriental (reference) and maybe ome kind of viking thing for the multi-hull ships?

Well, if we're going to have 3 factions, each with a distinct style, then one should be 'classic' kind of shape, one can be more rounded / boxy type, and one with split hulls, like catamaran/trimaran style.
