Suggestion: a new FTL setting, Gateway
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway_%28novel%29 Just like D&D, FTL could support multiple settings while retaining the same basic ruleset. Here is a novel whose setting is very game-like, and was indeed made into a text adventure in the early 90s: Gateway, by Frederik Pohl. Let me describe what...

Idea: mutations for FTL
A poor sod on the Steam forum is lamenting that all his shops sell exclusively breach missiles, :D and all enemies come generated with them :) and all quest rewards are breach missiles as well. :? Which is just as informative as botched brain surgery: why don't we have mutations for this game just l...

Sounds like the file is corrupted, do you use winrar to open these or Windows's own?

Idea for FTL 2: upgrading equipment
I think it would be great to be able and upgrade your equipment just like the systems in your ship. It would create more decisions along the way: would you rather buy a different augment, or upgrade your current one?

Re: Deconstructed Ship Budget?
I worked my ass off on this idea, for my buy system and randomizer utility. :D http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=11602 But the starting weapons' power isn't on par with their scrap cost. Still you can see intuitively that starter ships all have "this much" power, and as...

Re: [Tool] FTL Ship Editor: Superluminal - b26-2-13
Thanks. I don't get exactly what the "append" thing is, but I guess that I just want to completely replace the ship's xml and that's enough.

Re: [Tool] FTL Ship Editor: Superluminal - b26-2-13
You can do something as simple as a .bat that zips them all up and then renames the resulting .zip. Just check your .zip utility's command line. I did not know about making .ftl on the fly, thanks! So, I have tried opening the simplest .ftl file I could make with Superluminal and it appeared to con...

Re: [Tool] FTL Ship Editor: Superluminal - b26-2-13
Thanks that's nice, I will ask you for such a feature after I can complete my work on the utility. Unless I'm missing something, couldn't you make it so that your utility packs your xml and txt files into a .ftl file, then open it with Superluminal? A .ftl file is just a renamed .zip, after all. Th...

Re: Ship creation through buy system + Randomizer utility
Now I am working on a PHP version of the utility to generate a file that's readable by Superluminal. Work in progress:
