Re: Am I the Only Person that Loves the Fregatidae?

Basically its problem is that it's a very slow boarding ship compared to something like Slug B, Rock A/Rock B if they're turned into boarding ships, or Mantis C, let alone the conventional and more powerful boarding ships. You have no particularly good answer to ships that have both a medbay and goo...

Re: Whats The Worst Ship in FTL?

There's been a lot of argument over the years about this (and of course the arguments were revived when AE was released). It's important to draw distinctions between ships that are hard to win the game with, and ships that are legitimately powerful and just not as fun to play. Anyway, I think the le...

Re: Best way to deal with enemy boarding

Boarders tend to get "free hits" on your crew if they're standing in a room and take shots at your crew as they move into position. Races like Mantis and Rockmen will also consistently beat humans in one-on-one combat, the former due to their bonuses to combat damage, and the latter due to...

Re: Did you know? List little tips and tricks here!

++On a side note, it would be good to know WHEN the game calculates a ship-to-ship hit. Sometimes I'll borrow power from engines to activate an attack drone and then quickly revert it to avoid a missile. Question is, when does the game factor in the missile's path? Usually I'd add it right before t...

Re: Who wants my Steam Keys?

Thanks very much for the generous sharing. I'd like to ask for the Offspring Fling copy since it looks like an unusual mixture of puzzle and speed platforming.

Re: Your "Fuck you, FTL" Moments

Had one earlier today: Forgot to turn on my oxygen, everyone died. FTL should tell you AHEAD of time that kind of thing is happening. Were your crew already at critical health before you turned the oxygen off? Usually there's a loud BEEP BEEP noise, along with the crew manifesto entries on the left...

Re: On the go hull repair. Is it worth it?

The hull repair event always costs 2 scrap per hull point, whereas normal store beacon repair costs 2 scrap per hull point in early sectors, then transitions to 3 per and 4 per in later sectors. I don't recommend ever buying these repairs in the early game, because that scrap should be spent upgradi...

Re: Other games with harsh difficulty

There's an option to turn off the dynamic lighting, which actually makes the game super-bright everywhere (even away from the lampposts) so everything is clearly visible. If I record another runthrough of the game that's definitely what I'm going to use.

Re: [Exploit] Infinite Repair

It's also worth mentioning that all this equipment is really expensive - the Hull Repair Drone alone is 85 scrap, which is equal to 21 repairs at 4 scrap each. While that does mean you start saving money after the 10th jump... you're saving money on damage taken, and you really don't want to be taki...

Re: Who is the player?

This is definitely a recurring discussion topic, but I think it's definitely one the developers left ambiguous. There are a couple of points in favor of the "Captain is a normal person" theory, which involves two events: first, the Slug captain who tries to get the player captain themselve...
