A very interesting idea.. I like some sort of optional timed/hard core mode where you can't sit there and take 20 minutes to whittle this enemy down, because the rebels are only 2 jumps back.. and they'll be here before you finish!! even if you don't ever get drone recovery arm, the torus is one of the easier ships to use. Every ship benefits from def drone 1 (to help deal with missiles). It seems like missiles penetrate a long ship like the federation cruiser more easily than a smaller ship (like the torus).
