Re: Go to shops in sector 1 & 2?
the Repair Arm is the worst augment in the game; it's the only augment that is actively bad to have. A lot of people keep saying this. And they probably play the game only on the easy difficulty setting. On hard difficulty, the scrap lost to RA is much less, because the scrap rewards are much poore...

Re: Your proudest FTL screenshot
It'd probably have to be my 8k no-farming run. Used Mantis C: http://imgur.com/a/FdZ0m.

Re: Am I getting better, or does FTL have a "reward" mode?
You probably are getting better over time, but getting free BL2's is pure luck. And no, there's no "reward mode," it's just normal randomness.

Re: So how come FTL tries to dictate play style?
Nope, it's all random. The only way FTL tries to dictate your playstyle is by designing each ship around a certain plan. For instance, Mantis B is a boarding ship, and you'd have to be very, very stubborn to make it into anything else.

Re: Help with two of the ships
The best way to play Slug A is typically to go with the intended anti-bio beam strategy. It's typically very effective when you can breach bomb the weapons (only do this if they can hurt you), then shoot them with the laser. On the second laser volley, you can sneak in the anti-bio beam. Medbays com...

Re: Advanced Edition Feedback
As a Kickstarter contributor, I've been playing FTL for a long time, but hadn't played the Advanced Edition yet. I did now, about 10 times. Short: It's a ton of fun, but horribly unbalanced. The new weapons are almost without exception much better than the old ones, hacking is completely OP and the...

Re: Favorite way to win a battle?
It's probably because they're too busy getting hacked to pieces to operate the com.

Re: Favorite way to win a battle?
Don't forget hacking the medbay and anti-bio beam. And my personal favorite, pew pew crew kills. Goes well with with fire, hacking, and especially clonebay boarding.

Re: Sector planning
You got lucky on that crafting event. Usually you spend 50 scrap and get something like a chain burst laser, which isn't a horrible value if you actually wanted a weapon like that, but it's a big loss if you didn't. Most of my experiences in the abandoned sector have gone a little like this: empty b...

Re: Sector planning
I usually prioritize sectors which can have nebula beacons, which includes civilian, Engi, Zoltan, pirate, rebel, and of course nebula sectors. I'm in the minority of players who prefers nebula sectors, and the reason is that the larger number of jumps you can take not only compensates for the relat...
