Re: Admiring the code

The .DAT files are basically ZIP files. If you open it with Notepad++ you can see where the files begin and end with a certain maker. The rest is padding. But if you use a hex editor you can inject text. The Burst Laser 3 laser doesn't start charging on occasion due to a rounding error, so I fixed it.

Re: Admiring the code

I think this is a first post of it's kind on the forum. All comments regarding FTL programming have universally been negative. Modders will be inclined to gripe since they dislike hardcoding but even beyond moddability, the comments we're usually that it's a rushed mess. Of course it probably also ...

Re: O2 mysteriously depleting......

I guarantee you this person did not read the random encounter. Some slug encounters or even mantis encounters will hack your systems. If you read it, it will say something along the lines of: "You exit the jump and all looks well. Wait a second. Oh no! It's a slug cruiser off the port bow! They...

Re: Steam Soundtrack Locations

Mine was in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FTL Faster Than Light\

I guess Steam wasn't nice enough to give it its own folder?

Admiring the code

It's no secret that FTL is a good game. But nobody really takes the time to look at how the games are built. They just only see the end product and what's displayed. Most people are just not skilled enough or flat out don't care. But for the 12 whole people who played FTL and can program, this threa...

Re: Cursor lag on 8770m

Well multiple complaints might force them into resolving it. Afterall i've read posts where people actually wonder if their gfx chip is working or not and are trying to find proof either way. This is not something that should happen. It's a shame because it looks like a great machine and for that p...

Re: Cursor lag on 8770m

I found a way to replicate the issue. It seems to be caused by when I put the computer to sleep then wake it up. After that I get garbage FPS and the cursor lags. After rebooting it's fine. Definitely sounds like a hardware issue, but since Samsung sucks a dick, I doubt I'll see a fix in my life tim...

Re: Cursor lag on 8770m

I purchased it on Steam, and it would be a crime against humanity to refund my money. I wish I had known about the website first, otherwise I would've paid $30 not $13.50. This is one of the few games I've played where I actually felt good about paying for it. Unlike most games that come out now, th...
